Winter Storm

Category: Gardens | Posted: Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:23 pm

Well we had a pretty bad storm up here on Friday night, the wind and rain wreaked havoc on everything. So many trees down, roads flooded, there was even a whole blocked that burned down in Hampton because the winds carried the flames. Most of the roads were closed and a few still are. We didn't get power back until the middle of the night last night. Our plants seem to be doing fine even though we had no heat and the lights couldn't be turned on. I've never seen so many uprooted trees at once. It's now become normal to drive over several downed power lines every time you drive. It was a fun experience having no electricity but I'm sure my plants are all glad to have the power back on.
On a side note, my lettuce sprouted in the middle of all this and the rest of my plants are doing pretty well. The only problem plant is my dill which hasn't looked too hot since we transplanted it to a bigger pot, but I'm hoping it will perk up now that the lights are back on.

Sounds like March has come in like a lion. Maybe the worst is over and it can now go out like a lamb.
