Squirrels are trouble for my Tangerine and Orange trees.

Category: Garden, Flowers and Citrus in Orlando, FL | Posted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 10:42 pm

Squirrels are hard to control when the citrus gets ripe. I have used nets that makes it hard to pick the fruit and does not stop the squirrels from grabbing the sweet tangerines or oranges. This past week I tried the Guardian noise system I purchased over the internet. The first day I used it, I was excited because the squirrels stay away from my yard. By day three the squirrels were not staying away at all. They were eating the flower buds about 3 feet away from this noise maker. I am going to send back this Guardian noise maker this week. I may try spraying a hot mixture on the citrus trees.

Today is rainy and cool here in Orlando. Recently the temperature has been in the high 70's and today we have a cool 61 degrees. I have to think about getting my garden ready to plant. I am going to buy some plants and use seeds for some vegetables this spring.
I hope to get some compost from Orange County to till in my small garden. I can't wait to pick my own green peppers and not have to eat the ones from Mexico. This year I am going to spray the plants more for bugs and schedule the fertilizer on my calender so I don't forget to use it.

Happy Valentine Day to you all.
