A Paul Robeson Tomato

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 3:03 am

A very Juicy and smokey flavored tomato with a slight tangy taste. I made a Caprese with it. I also had one lightly sea salted with a vinagarette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_r4HtHlHrc

Fresh Radish from the Garden

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Thu Oct 20, 2011 9:20 pm

These Radish look more like little red carrots. They were very tasty. This was my first year growing radish. They grow so fast I think its only been 22 days since I planted them. I would have waited to dig them up but a saw one protruding out above the soil.

I keep checking on my Garden

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Sat Oct 08, 2011 2:12 pm

I visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable garden with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation. It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green.

Watercress. No good,

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 3:12 am

I ate some of my watercress today, and it tasted too strong and spicy for me. So I decided to dig it up and throw it in the compost. As I was about to cover up the hole I saw there were termites in the garden. I called the place where I bought my soil from and they told me they could give me some nematodes. So I put those into the garden to see what happens. I googled them and they should be effective in killing them and the queen.

Planting More Lettuce. Exotic.

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Wed Oct 05, 2011 4:41 pm

I just came from the garden store and was pleased to find out they have a new local organic supplier. I found some lettuces I have never heard of before, but I googled them and they sound great!! One called Outredgeous and another called Flashy Trout Back. I only planted one of each, but I am going back today to get 2 more of each. They also had a lots of different types of Asian Greens at the garden store. I need to research those before I go back.

My Fall Garden

Category: Vegetable, Herbs, Grapes and other Fruit. | Posted: Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:47 pm

( photo / image / picture from rick162iq's Garden )

I made a cider block garden with 14 blocks, the inside dimensions are 4ft x 4ft and 18 inches deep. Each block has 2 holes so I have 28 plants around the edges and quite a lot more in the center. The outside holes are mostly herbs and companion plants for the plants on the inside. This is what is in here so far. In the holes around the edges: Pineapple sage, Pineapple, Chocolate mint, Lemon balm, Sweet Chen Basil, Dark Opal Purple Basil, Tuscan Blue Rosemary, Garlic Chives, Italian Parsley, Italian Oregano, Greek Oregano, Wintergreen Mint, Dill, Lime Thyme, Pepperment, Chives, Lime Basil, 4 Texas A&M mild Jalapenos, 4 Broccoli, and 3 Cauliflower.

In the Middle I Planted: 21 Red Onions, 4 Garlic, 2 Cauliflower, 3 Buttercrunch Lettuce, 4 Red Sails Lettuce, 4 Grand Rapids Lettuce, 14 Multi-colored Carrots, 4 Sequoia Strawberries, 1 Arugula, 2 Watercress, 1 Razzle Dazzle Spinach, and Rhubarb. I have two 1ft squares left to fill I'm saving it for Spinach.
