****The perfect place for a Koi pond****
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:57 pm Its not where i'd like it to be,i'd like it over near the garden shed ,buts its to shady.but since garden ponds need 4 to 6 hours of sunlight to grow plants that flower in them that wont happen..Also they say koi and plants dont mix,well i had both before and the koi were distructive,pulling my plants out of their pots(big mess) at times. But koi are so friendly! they say guppies are good to keep mosquito larva down,but from my brother experience with them in a fish tank many years ago,their great for making way to many babies. The sun is trying to come out,in between clouds. I sure hope it stays out eventually today. Ive read several articles on water gardens and some seem scary as far as size , about not putting rocks in the pond,and so forth,whether galvanized stock tanks will rust over time and so forth.The kind of articles written to lure you away from building one,thats not a kit. Guess i'll just do the best i can and hope for the best! Dont know if ill be outside today or not ,depending on weather,keeping fingers crossed.

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:23 am Sitting around together last night i talked to Ron about making a water garden out of a cattle watering tub, you know those great big metal ones.We have one in our barn.(why waste it)...dig a hole and bury it in the ground..why not, i think.. I had a water garden at my old house and had koi and goldfish in it,they loved cheerios cereal. Today is very depressing,rain ,rain and more rain! I want outside in the sun and warmth so bad! All ive been doing is reading all those garden magazines i bought and got depressed from them,lol..

In my travels , Is that a gnome?
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Tue Apr 10, 2007 8:52 pm This week end i found one ....a gnome ,yup..for 10.00 at Artichoke Annie's in columbia, found it coming back home. Saturday leaving for piedmont, we stoped there and i found a wicker chair (again) for 25.00,no paint on it at all,very dull gray looking. Couldnt take it then because the truck was full and said i'd pay for it now,pick it up on the way back.Ron also found more lightening rods(no glass balls) for them.While there ,there sat 2 gnomes and i liked one of them and took it home. The other object in pic i got at Yellow Moon,i really like it.I'll find a home for both outside somewhere in the flower gardens when the weather gets nice.I also found some old garden tools that saturday at Artichoke Annie's,they were only 3 and 4.00 each.Oh i love to find deals like that! I see them alot for 18.00 to 20.00,thats too high!!.. Oh and i also found a bunch of country living garden magazines and bhgardens(country gardens) for only 50 cents(bought 17 of them)lol// .Yes im a sucker for a pretty garden magazine(front covers get me all the time!  some new treasures
 mom and dad on easter.

Im back home....
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Tue Apr 10, 2007 2:37 am Well we made it back .Easter went good. Dad looked worse than the last time,the nursing home lost his teeth! Its been over a week too!..We picked him up and took him to moms for easter and i baked a ham and made the broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes etc. I cut dads ham up for him,he had a great appetite,but i felt bad he couldnt eat regular. Seen only 1 of 6 grandkids,(thats along story) that made me sad! Seen 3 of my 4 kids as well(sad). My mom and sis got into it,(the fun of family togetherness)lol...sad! (GOOD NEWS) I got some bargains(antiques).I'll show pics another time. The sun was out the whole weekend. I cooked a good meal for easter. I stayed sober all weekend!..lol.. All and all not a bad time,except i wished Me and Ron lived there,and we could be there for my family more.....go figure,,, This blog entry has been viewed 130 times

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Sat Apr 07, 2007 12:26 am Ron has been busy all day,no slowing him down, he even mowed the yard so the grass will be still nice when we get back. Is he crazy? lol..To cold for me out there,and he drained my fountain that we had been enjoying till this nasty cold weather,dont want it to freeze up while were gone. I on the other hand did what most women do,i colored my hair,then i had to also frost it,thank god i bought the hair color and frosting,or i'd be going home to dark haired(yuk).So ya i had to do my hair twice today,Ron would come in and just kinda laugh. Also im bringing home my old iron bed to put in one of her rooms for me sleeping room.Ron joked with me saying there would be no room for anything we might find at a antique store along the hwy home.Ha.. we will find the room if we come across something we just have to have! lol... The weather has cooled, and sure fooled all us fools. but we figured it out... it was to soon to put out... to do all again ,we will get it back out. Maybe next year we will know ... to take it a little more slow .. For in case we still get snow. 
But its human nature to hurry... to plant and not worry ... And to this is a fools big mistake. Though the weather looks pretty it can change quick in a hurry... Better safe to wait , Better to plant late! by kat... See you all next week! hugs... bye.. This blog entry has been viewed 77 times
Oh the wind
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Fri Apr 06, 2007 3:24 pm Its mighty fierce today! The suns out ,but still cold! Packed my suitcase last night,im about ready for our trip home tomorrow. We bought a ham to take home and it will stay good in the cooler for the drive home. I hate leaving Bear here inside by himself,the other kitties will be in the garage ,and bailey will be in his pen. Rons brother will come over to feed them daily while were gone, but i just feel sad leaving Bear,he is 17 years old. Wish the weather would be warm when we get back,but its suppose to rain Tuesday and Wednesday and the temp will still be rather low. Any ways ,ill be seeing the kids and grandkids ,that makes me happy! So go ahead and blow wind,you cant keep me from that! A HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE!

Dreaming of warmer days to come
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 5:21 pm Sitting here eatting my english muffins this morning,the sun shinning bright,how deceitful it really is. The sun makes you want to go out,but its only in the 30's out there. Wish it was Saturday morning and we were on our way to my moms already. Looked at my grape hyacinths outside,they seem okay,the tulips are still standing,they dont look all mushy.Hope every one is getting through this nasty weather.But we do have alot to be thankful for ,we werent in the tsunami,we missed the tornadoes, and so for,we just got frosted on.Thank god for small miracles right. If your stuck indoors today,keep warm. If your sick,get better quick. If you cant be home for Easter,call home.!! If you cant think of a thing to say in your blog,just tell everyone hi today and smile!  Me back the other day.
 Me today dressed for winter.

Heading for warmer weather.
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 4:41 am This weekend is Easter as we all know. I have 4 grown children i need to go see,one who just got out of the Airforce. I also have 6 grandkids,4 grandsons,2 granddaughters. I miss them alot. But i also have two aging parents ,their in their 80's. Dad has Alsheimers and is in the nursing home.Mom is still at home and misses dad im sure quite a bit, married 56 years. I have a sister who lives fairly close to them,and being im 6 hours away i feel quilty quite a bit. So this Saturday were going home. The gardens will have to take care of themselves,lord willing they will survive. Our animals will be looked after by Rons brother. Earlier this evening Ron went out to cut some wood to catch up on some for next year i think,and a little to burn tonight. The fireplace has been out for a week or so now,and there was a chill all day in the house,central heat just doesnt warm you as good as wood! For supper tonight i made quesadias.I use Monterey jack cheese and green chili peppers in them,i roll them up in egg roll wrappers,then deep fry. For the sauce i just use a can of tomato and green chili sauce,yum! I decided to put a few more of my collection of enemalware on here tonight,also 1 of our Boyds Bears we also collect. Who 's a collector out there ?
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 4:18 pm When im not gardening i have other interests,i collect enamelware. I collect old coffee pots,coffee cups,as well as old pots and so forth. Today after watching the weather ,we found out were expecting snow! Oh no!!! Stuck in the house again,bummer. Well i better get busy doing something,at least get dressed and out of my pj's,lol. Have a great day.

Today i learned alot
Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 3:29 am I learned to do something good and have it turn out right,you have to take your time. That paying attention to detail does matter. And that going back to school,for a refresher course wouldn't hurt anyone. Yes ive been on here rushed to tell you all about my day and not taking the time to do it right. Ive also ignored some issues for feeling my way was okay. No one is perfect. But im willing to give more to make others happy and maybe I would become a little prouder of my blog. Oh i will mess up now and then ,who doesnt. I think i got lazy and just did my own thing and figured people would think, "Oh that just Kat!". Well they didnt,it was foreign to them. Now i must admit its been foreign to me to slow down and take my time and do it right. Any ways excuse me for being lacadaisical,and i hope i can show you a new me in my way of writting to you . Tonight i made a ham and had mashed potatoes for supper with asparagus from the garden and lima beans. Then i went to the blog to try to fix what iv'e been messing up. Took some pics of more Geraniums i got at Lowes today for $1.18 for 4 inch pots, I bought 20 plants. as the pic i put on will show. Well until i write again,sleep well all! Kathleen..
