My Container Garden

Category: Container Gardening | Posted: Wed Oct 02, 2013 4:58 pm

I started a container garden 3 months ago. I was itching to start gardening, and in my neck of the woods we are very much in the middle of winter. I came across some articles on container gardening and thought it would be a great start and trying out my green thumb.

I started growing a lot of herbs like cilantro, oregano, mint (which has been my best grower), spring onions, rosemary, sage, etc. and those are doing quite well. But I'm running out of containers and room to add new ones. Having to buy new containers all the time is becoming a bit expensive. I was able to grab some cheap pots from yard sales and off Gumtree, but unfortunately I need more. I've become quite addicted. Anyone have any ideas?

In addition, I've heard of people using 2-litre soda bottles to create planters. I was worried about the plastic chemicals getting into my food supply, but it may be an unnecessary worry. I've also seen a cure to my storage problem. I came across some gardeners that are building their containers up.
