Growing lavender in East Texas clay

Some of you have asked about growing lavender in clay. We have over 600 plants that are doing quite well in the Texas clay. The key to our success is propagating the soil correctly. Since lavender loves rocky, dry soil we use a mixture of gravel, sand and sandy lome to make a home for our plants. We make a mound with the mixture so that the rain water won't stand around the root base.
