A Few More Iris Varieties
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Wed May 29, 2013 9:26 pm I had to sneak out between downpours and snap a few pics before the severe weather comes through and batters the new blooms. This is the first variegated bearded iris I've ever had. Hope these don't get battered, they're just starting to bloom. (Avalon Sunset) I brought in iris stem that got broken off in a storm and hadn't opened it's blooms, and it actually opened up in a vase! Very cool. More Bearded Iris
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Tue May 28, 2013 8:04 pm More storms predicted, so I tried to get some photos of the iris blooms before the storms roll through. This blog entry has been viewed 366 times
Stormy Weather
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Mon May 27, 2013 8:12 pm We didn't have a tornado, but plenty of straight line winds. Lots of tree branches to pick up, and some flattened taller flowers. But I just tied them back up. We fared well, some neighbors had more tree damage than we did. I was disappointed I didn't take photos yesterday, these were looking a lot better then. Other pics from today: This is a berm we have by the street. This blog entry has been viewed 348 times
Planting Day
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Sun May 26, 2013 10:41 pm We finally got most of the vegetable garden planted today. Craig made more cages to keep the deer out and helped install the rabbit fence, while I planted. Also weeded some flower gardens & planted some annuals. This year we're growing several varieties of tomatoes and peppers, heirloom green beans and carrots, onions, snap peas, peas, watermelon, and potatoes. Rain, Rain, Go Away
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Sun May 26, 2013 2:16 am We haven't had a lot of rain lately, just a daily dose. It's making getting the vegetable garden planted a bit of a challenge. So I finally got my rain boots out and planted my tomatoes and peppers anyway (30 tomatoes/16 peppers). If the rain holds off tonight, maybe I can get the rest in tomorrow. Just relaxing after working in the garden... ( photo / image / picture from Pianolady's Garden ) Back Yard Pics This blog entry has been viewed 264 times
More Front Yard Gardens
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Fri May 24, 2013 1:35 am We had a fence for our former dog that got removed, leaving this odd shaped garden that was originally planted up against the fence. I decided I kind of liked it and just finished trimming it out with leftover brick edging I had on hand. This is the spring look of this garden, it will change dramatically through the summer. House Foundation Garden
Category: Pianolady's Gardens | Posted: Wed May 22, 2013 5:34 pm This is one area I really enjoy, as it's where we removed all the bushes along the foundation. I've not hidden that I really dislike that look, and every house I've ever bought had it (and was always removed with my truck and chain). This is the look I'm referring to: House when we bought it. ( photo / image / picture from Pianolady's Garden ) Here's the front of the house now: Last edited: Wed May 22, 2013 5:37 pm This blog entry has been viewed 328 times
