today's findings!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Sat Nov 07, 2009 7:58 am

see what i found today. first something i love.

one of my favorites ( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden )

brunfelsia pansiflora ( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden )

first flowers of bogainvillae ( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden )

now, i love butterflies, no questions. but i don't like them laying their eggs on the leaves of my plants. because in a few days, their monsters of caterpillars eat up all the leaves. see what this one has done to my alocasia.

baby chamilion ( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden )

this fellow has been on this tree for a few weeks now. very camera shy.
and the moth - i didn't know they have a web like nest to sleep in.

ok, sometime soon, will come back with some more findings.

Category: hobbies for profit | Posted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:00 am

ok, i just uploaded some pics to my garden.
there was this caterpillar on one of my foliage plant. by the time i found it the plant was just twigs without its leaves.

and i got the name of the pink powder puff. it is calliandra brevipes of the mimosacaea family.

this problem of uploading pic to the blog is still there. i cannot do it.

morning glory

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Oct 20, 2009 11:50 am

i saw the morning glory by cherylad. so beautiful.
mine is simple compared to that. looks quite ordinary.
busy these days, preparations - full swing.
rains have stopped and it is getting warm.
my plants are in a sorry state because of the painting work in and around the house.

one more visitor!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Thu Sep 24, 2009 8:19 am

I am back after a long time. even though i make time to check the gardenstew, i don't get much time to write. the rains have come to an end - looks like it. we do get some showers with thunder and lightning. weather is fairly cool for this side of the globe. all the plants are fresh and starting to bloom. nice to be out in the garden.
we are going to be very busy with a jan wedding coming up.
I found a rare visitor in my garden on my morning rounds today. I am not sure from where it would have come. I haven't seen one like this here before.
if someone can name it I would be happy.

thrilled

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 6:31 am

I feel so thrilled. morning. open the internet. get to gardenstew.com. and there it is. the picture i uploaded just the previous day. wow! i am happy. when i visit my plants in the morning, and see them smiling at me, i feel the same way. everyday is wonderful and miraculus. i am so grateful in my heart. thank you everyone at gardenstew team.

the rains are heavy, it has been raining almost continously for the past 10 days. many of my bonsai pots are a sad sight. since i have left them in the rain, they have lost some soil. i have to repot many of them once the rain stops.

this has stopped flowering now.

lace myrtle, this also has dropped all the flowers now, have to start pruning.

( photo / image / picture from greenfairy's Garden )

geranium - not very happy with our hot climate, bu it tries to give a few bunches now and then.

rain rain

Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Wed Jul 01, 2009 6:39 pm

finally, after a lot of false starts, it looks like rainy season has really started. our well is almost full. and it is cooler too.
some of my plants are not very happy getting wet. specially roses, they simply droop and not much flowers now. i have to start trimming all the hibiscus and ixora . they are growing wild.
this is one visitor we had the other day. these lay theit eggs on the tender leaves of lemon trees, and the egg hatch and the larvae grow eating the leaves. once i let them eat up a plant and there were no leaves on the tree in two days time. now, i remove the eggs when i see them, still, some remain and become caterpillars.
