Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:25 am it seems a long time since i wrote. christmas & new year festivities are over, now back to normal. our son left after his vacation. he has entrusted us with a new job for this year - finding a girl for him. it is really tough since my husband an i found each other. many of you may not understand this in the west this custom we have in india. ok, so we have started looking seriously, but i believe in the law of the universe that everything falls into place at the right time. so no worry. most of my plants are doing well, since we don't have any winter here. it is becoming warmer now. i will put in some pictures from our trip to wayanad, kerala. it is a hill station, with wild life and forests. there are coffee and tea estates also.it is also developing as a tourist attraction these days.

Christmas wishes
Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Fri Dec 19, 2008 10:16 am long time since i wrote. i have been busy for the past two weeks. happy that our son is home on holidays from his work place. we also went visiting my mother. kerala is a beautiful place to be at any time of the year. enjoyed three days there. making preparations for the Christmas now. we make a lot of cookies and fried eatables which can be stored for some time. because of the hot climate, and the humidity, things go bad very soon. still, for one month, it is safe. when i see the photographs of snow covered landscape, i alwys wonder, when it is so hot here, there are places freezing. i only can imagine it, since i have not seen the snow so far. all best wishes and love to all those who are in the gardenstew. greenfairy This blog entry has been viewed 117 times
modern day plague - terrorism
Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Fri Nov 28, 2008 8:36 am what is happening to our beautiful world? we in india are tensed because of the terrorist attack going on for the third day in mumbai. though we are far off, we feel so bad and helpless about the whole situation. what do they want? why do they hurt people? a lot of questions which may not get an answer at all. we are still waiting for the operations to end. greenfairy This blog entry has been viewed 192 times

Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Tue Nov 18, 2008 6:44 am today i have towrite about the visitor in my garden. i am not sure what time it entered into our garden, but around 3 in the afternoon on saturday, hearing a sound, i went to see if it was a stray dog. i found a large snake moving in coils. when i got a better view, it had something in its mouth, it was trying to swallow. then we could see two legs dangling, it was a frog. this is a rat snake which keeps coming in once in a while, so we are sort familiar with it. it is around 2 mts. long and must be old, it has some scar on the middle of its body. i took a few pictures of it, i hope it's ok to put them in. it was still there at 6 pm. when and where it went off, i do not know.

caring for anthurium
Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2008 6:27 am one major job i have to is splitting and repotting anthuriums. i prefer doing it in the evenings, because it is cooler with setting sun. and my plants are doing well with the shade net housing. i am waiting for the new flowersto start. did some pruning to the bonsais today. when i see the japanese bonsais i am not sure whether mine can be called bonsai at all. it defenitely is an amature's attempt. some pics of how i started.

Category: thoughts & plans | Posted: Sat Nov 01, 2008 6:29 am this is one of those days when i feel like doing a lot of things. getting the garden in order is one of my plans for today. there are some plants which need a lot of sun, and those that can be happy in the shade. the few roses which are in the pots are not doing very well. in our climate, they need a lot of pampering. so i thought of putting them in the ground and see how they will grow. Category: hobbies for profit | Posted: Wed Oct 22, 2008 7:47 am when i talk about my garden i have to say that i have been very fortunate in having enough water throughout the year. we have a well which takes care of this. then i have made a vermi compost tank, which is able to give me manure sufficient for my patch of garden. since i live on the western coast of india, the summer is very hot and humid. and we get good rains. winter is practically nil. well, let me try once more to put some pictures in. greenfairy.
