Fall Start Up

Category: Square Foot Gardening | Posted: Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:10 am

Rodney build 5 4 x 4 frames using cedar fence posts. We filled them with 1 1/2 yards of organic soil on Wednesday, Sept 9. After being sick and receiving the first rain after a long hot summer we were able to start planting on Monday, Sept 14. In the first frame we planted Premium Crop Broccoli, Golden Swiss Chard, Fordhook Swiss Chard, Premix Cabbage, Jersey Warfield Cabbage, beets, Chinese Cabbage, and collards.
The second frame only contains climbing spinach and arugula.
The third frame contains crookneck squash, zucchini squash, and butternut squash.
The fourth frame contains Blue Lake Green Beans, bush beans, sugar snap peas, and
The fifth frame contains Golaite Hybrid Tomatoes, Amelia Hybrid Tomato, grape tomatoes, Bonnie Green Bell Pepper, Pimento Bell Pepper, Clemson Spinless Okra, and cucumber.
We plan to plant Irish potatoes and Lima beans this week, seed turnips by the 25th, then shallots, lettuce, leeks (transplants), greens, and kale.
