I`ve just managed to cut the grass at last after 3 weeks,I don`t like cutting the grass when it`s so long.... my mower is so old that the person who invented the mower would recognise it, in fact having looked at the first mower, it looks better than mine : )
Anyway... the blackbirds, unfortunatly as much as i like cats this one wasn`t welcome, it was sitting at the bottom of the shurb where the birds were building their nest. No longer, they have moved on, the neighbour didn`t suit them. But today i have spotted 2 young blackbirds sunning themselves, wings spread, beaks open, just enjoying the sun, and by the way they love porridge oats, not just the blackbirds but the robins, dunnocks and sparrows, at this very moment i even have a song thrush eating the oats and they are only 89p for 1 and half kilo.
Let me assure people that i do put seed and nuts out on the bird table. xxx
It`s been raining almost none stop for days, but today (sun) i have managed to get out in the garden, but not the part where i wanted to go to. It`s the 1st of July and we have a pair of blackbirds making a nest in the pyracantha.... they started early this morning and were still at it this afternoon. I haven`t been able to get near where i wanted to be in case i scared the birds off. If they are successful in building the nest this will be the first nest ever in our garden. Is it too late for the birds to be breeding???? xxx
I`m home safe and sound, not washed away with all the rain the UK has been getting. The Lake District wasn`t too bad, a bit damp but not as bad as Yorkshire is getting. I`ve had a few falls, the worst one being a knee injury, I don`t think that i`ll be hill walking again : ( or not for a long time... I`ve taken lots of pictures, too many to show on here, so i`m going to see if i can start my own web page ... any help will be appreciated, my email address is on my profile. thanks xxx
I`m suffering this morning .... totally self inflicted, so i only have myself to blame. I went out with some girlfriends last night (thurs) for a meal and a chat, and of course the wine flowed .... like it does....

anyway i`ll suffer in silence : ) The birds, no sign of the cockatiel yesterday and the starling had gone when i checked the next day, thankfully as we had a cat in the garden. I am a cat lover but a bird lover first, I have a spray bottle filled with water in the garden, the cats don`t seem to like that. xxx

By the way i have my new walking boots on for the first time, going to keep them on all morning. The weather up north is terrible at the moment, can i see myself pitching a tent in the rain ????
The bird was here all afternoon, It must have found some food and somewhere to roost for the night (safety) I`ve thrown some bird seed out just in case. I went into the back garden to check on the water system and what should i find there ... a starling, my first instincts was to pick it up and put it in a box but.... the man of the house says that we should just leave it to see if it recovers by its self. I shooed it under a bush and put some food nearby but not next to it. It`ll be the first thing i check in the morning. Did i do right just leaving it ....
Today has been a good day, despite my having what they call a tennis elbow. I was awake at 4am, ironing at 4.30 (still haven`t finished) The birds were giving it their all... what a wonderful sound. I did have a catch up sleep till the phone rang. I then went into the front garden to do some weeding and deadheading. I suddenly heard this strange bird making a noise, couldn't`t spot it for ages, got my binoculars and saw it was a cockatiel, but it was grey, not a bit of colour on it, I`m sure that it must have escaped from a house, It was lovely to see. Will it survive, I do hope so. xxx
I`m trying to get my garden ready for when i go away, I have too many pots, the man of the house has put a watering system up for me i just need to see if it works, which i will do tonight ... on no i won`t, i have to go to work :( i`ll have to look at it tomorrow.
I`m having a lot of problems with juvenile blackbirds, i have at least 5 of them in the garden fighting and generally making a mess, i have wood chippings and they love to cover the path with this. I know what i could do, i`ll wait till they are all arguing over something, then put the watering system on. he he he

and for any bird lovers, i`m only joking xxx
