They are only 15 to 20 mins from our house and provide a great escape from the city , a great place to unwind . A road was built during famine times 1840s about 20 miles long so that the milatry could have easy access against the O Byrnes and the O Tooles who came down to Dublin raiding the city . <br/>Glendalough (gleanndalocha ) is the glen of the two lakes and is a great attraction with Dubliners on weekends . It was a monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin in the 6 th centuary .
