There are not many flowering perennials with such a long blooming period. Each flower lasts weeks. I have plants that recieve regular water in loam, while those in the front yard are planted in sandy soil that recieves infrequent water during the summer months. All plants once establish do well.

An excellent choice for beginners. Tough, prolific, and showy. Hard to go wrong with this one.

This is definitely a fool proof plant for beginners. I often plant it into client's gardens who do not really like to work in the garden, but want pretty color. Loves growing with Rudbeckia.

In the last few years it seems like so many I see at big box stores have aster yellows-right there in the store! In my area there is a lot of it, and also a mite in the cone that makes it look bizarre. But I still start my own seeds and pull any with problems, since I like the plant.
