I can't believe it! Bob woke me up very early this morning (he gets up before the crack of dawn) He had gone out to the garage, and opened the back door... and who did he find there? It was our missing Dolly, returned home. She somehow made it back home. She was gone 5 weeks and 5 days. Oh my goodness! She is looking pretty rough. Very, very dirty, and just messy fur and bones. She just wanted to drink water, and is "talking" to us, but her meow is different. I think she is traumatized. I can hardly pet her, her backbone is sticking out. She was never more than 7lbs, and now she feels like about 2 lbs!!
We had to get to work, so we closed her up in my sun room (with litter box, food and water) She did not eat, but I'm certain that she slept!
This evening she seems weak and a little disoriented. Poor thing. I am taking her in to the vet tomorrow morning to have her checked over. I think one of her eyes might be infected. I just can't imagine where she has been and what she has been through.
I was just sure I would never see her again. Amazing! Will post pics (that are heart wrenching) when I can figure out how to re size them to post!

Pics we took this morning. Bob just got her to eat some mushed up wet cat food with warm milk on it. He is better at the intensive care than I am. I;ll be anxious to have the vet check her over and get her on the path to health. Poor girl

That is so good to see that she made it home. It does make you wonder what the heck she's been doing for so long. If she's eating... she'll be fine I'm sure.
A whole bunch of tender loving care will have her fit in no time.
I bet everyone in your household will be sleeping easy tonight. :stew2:

YEAH!!! So glad to know she is home. Don't over do it on the milk, cats shouldn't be given milk after weaning.

I'm so happy for you and Dolly. She'll make a fast turn around with all the tender loving care and probably never leave home again.

Congrats Kay! What a happy day. Poor poor Dolly. It does make you wonder what in the world happened. I am sure she will be right as rain once you all can give her TLC. :):):)

Well that's great news to start the day with! Welcome home Dolly! I can't imagine what she has been through or what she did to find her way home. I hope her eye infection is nothing too serious. Such wondrous news :D

Poor Dolly looks so bad at the moment but I'm sure you'll be able to bring her back to full health again. As Toni said don't give her milk as adult cats don't tolerate cows milk well. Also, and I'm sure you're already doing this, small meals often are much better than big ones which could overload her stomach and lead to more problems for her. Do let us know what the vet says won't you as her eyes look terribly sore.
I'm just so glad she found her way home.

I am so glad for you. Our kitty never left the house for 6 months or so, after we got her back and for the first few weeks she slept behind the chair day and night, hardly getting up to eat or drink. So, I suspect she will do the same. Eat and sleep and use the litter box. That is it.

I took her in to the vet this morning. They have been taking good care and giving her lots of loving today. Doc S did screenings for kidney, liver etc. She is pretty good for the circumstances. As imagined, she is extremely dehydrated. She weighs 3.7 lbs :-o I am so glad that she is not injured in any way. Her eye is OK, no infection, just dirty. She needs a bath in the worst way. They will try to clip out all her matted fur, and clean her.
She is going to stay in hospital until Saturday and receive IV fluids. Doc said this will boost her up quicker and get her strength back. She will also be able to rest quietly there.
I felt so sorry this a.m. when I first saw her, she could barely stand or walk. But she was quietly purring when I held her.
Thank you for all the well wishes; my Garden Stew friends!
Sure wish we knew the story. My heart hurts thinking of what she may have gone through. We have had some wild, severe storms lately! Poor little thing!
I hope she won't feel so adventurous now. Although, I do hope she will feel like patrolling the gardens to keep the bunnies and squirrels in check! We missed her!

Kay, good news from the vet! Anyone who knew to the DAY how long a cat had been missing, is a very, very good cat person.
When you pick her up from the vet, read the posts to her and give her a gentle hug from every one of her Stew fans.
