I've been knitting alpaca sweaters for my girls. When I finished Mini's, she immediately put it on and refused to take it off. She had nothing underneath, which proves the softness of the yarn. Then I had to hurry and knit one for Midi too. She loves hers as much as Mini does, but also wanted a hat to go with it. Here's her set: I've knitted in double three-thread yarn on needles no. 4, which is US size 6, so the sweaters are both very warm and sturdy. Now I'll have to start knitting a hat for Mini too.
Looks warm and cozy...I really like the texture on the hat. I love sweaters and don't know the first thing about knitting. Maybe someday I'll learn and save myself a few bucks.
You are a knitting speed-demon, how long did that sweater take you? The two blues together are really pretty. I can understand how the girls would love their sweaters, something warm and unique made for them by Mom..what's not to love.
Oh I love the contrasting colours. Just the thing to keep the chills at bay. I'm not much of a knitter but I can certainly admire such great looking woolies.
Now that's what I call a sweater-hat combination! Those colours are pretty and look so warm and comfortable. Those kids are very lucky to have you as a mum. Great work Droopy.
Those look great Droopy! My Mom knit until arthritis bothered her fingers too much. She made the most gorgeous sweaters, hats, mittens and baby clothing. Many of her creations I still have today. I only wish I had her gift.
Those sure are pretty sweathers and the little hat is so cute.I can't knit at all but you sure are great at it.
That is just great Droopy. I happen to knit one sweater over 4 years. That is why I do not really knit. How long do you take with yours. It sounds like you are a knitting machine - knitting away and finishing off many garments in a season. Great steady even tensioned stitching there. So unlike mine where the tension keep slipping and I have to start again.
Thank you all, you're too kind! kaseylib, it's more expensive to knit yourself than to buy at chain stores, but it's loads more fun! I have no knitting-English, so I can't tell what I did with the hat. I spent about a fortnight knitting the sweater and hat, but since it's straight knitting I could do it while watching TV. Gotta love the circular knitting needles. The other set has the same dark yarn, but the body is slightly redder. It's more light purplish than blue, actually. Lying camera. I'm not an even knitter, really, but after a wash and iron the things look great anyway.
Wow - only fourteen days and that is while going on about all your other daily activities. I take my hat off for you. That sure is knitting that I can only dream of.
Oh that looks so beautiful and cozy! Alpaca is one of my favorite fibers to spin, especially Suri alpaca. Dreamy stuff. I really should learn to knit, sigh...
