I found the stand several years ago, have never been able to find out what it's original purpose was and until this week I didn't have purpose for it either other than to have it sit in the yard. It had lost it's gold paint so I had to repaint it.

It's a styrofoam ball that I painted black with regular craft acrylic paint. Then glued on the half-marbles, no design just random.

I think in the birthmonth garden is a good place for it. At least until the Asters in front of it and the Daiseys behind it get too tall.
Pay no attention to the weeds around it, they will be gone soon ;)

That is a beautiful stand. I also do not know what its purpose is, but you have found a purpose for it and it looks great.
You certainly have the most interesting junque that adds that something special to you garden - weeds and all. :D

Your ball looks perfect on that stand Toni. It just goes to show that if you keep something long enough you're bound to find a use for it. :-D

Well whatever it was, it couldn't have been nicer than what you have created. I really love it!

I like the stand also Toni, very unique looking. It is indeed hard to guess what its original use was. Hmmmmm.

    Great work!

Thanks everyone. I am hoping to be able to keep it where it is. When the white Daiseys and purple Asters are in bloom I think it will look really good between them.

I was determined to use what I had on hand so there isn't much variation in the colors...but from across the yard with the sun shining on it it has a purple/blue glow that is really cool.

I Always like seeing your garden decorations. Looks like you have picked a good spot. Can't wait to see the flowers come up around it.

What a great idea! Styrofoam instead of a bowling ball. Certainly easier to come by. When you find something like the stand, it is a good idea to grab it even if you don't know what you will use it for; you'll eventually find a use for it, just like it was made especially for it. Great work Toni. ;)
