That's not an aloe, Ed. It is a dracina marginata, I think. The leaves do that when they have too much fertilizer build up or has been too dry. Quite frankly I think they are hard to keep nice as they all look like that that I have ever seen.
Yes, it's Dracaena marginata 'Tricolor.' Sensitive to tap water chemicals. Giving rain or distilled can help keep it looking its' best. Needs repotted when it forms a pancake of roots @ the bottom of the pot, every other year or so. Chop that off, remove the old soil, replace with new. Usually fits back in the same pot when I do it. Water when dry. It's normal for the oldest leaf to fall off occasionally, but it will fade uniformly, not look specifically brown at the tip first.
