It is suppose to get down to 34 tonight and 33 tomorrow night. Just in case we are running the sprinklers all night tonight and tomorrow night in hopes we can save our vegetables. Our beans are just staring to make little ones, our corn is starting to tassel, and the cucumbers are just starting to make little cukes. It normally doesn't get this cold until the end of September! This has been an odd year, next to no snow, a slow spring, then hotter than normal for 6 or more weeks, then more rain that I've ever seen this last month, now possible frost! We plant our tomatoes inside the green house so they should be fine at least.

This is dreadful news, 2OF! Do you think that you will spray your outside veg if the temp does drop below freezing?
Good that your toms are inside the greenhouse, but the outside veg could be in danger. Is this a normal temp for your state and your elevation at this time of year? I can't imagine it.

    Good luck, meid.

Oh my gosh ... FROST is the very last word I would expect to hear in July! Keeping my fingers crossed that doesn't happen for you!

Forecast for here in Britain is for very low temps tonight and tomorrow night. Frost is predicted for susceptible areas.
Sadly nothing new for us, we have had frost every month except August over the last 20 years and temperatures low enough to make growing some things extremely difficult. Squash for instance have to be grown in the poly tunnel as our season is too short even for 90 day types to grow properly.

That's why I haven't started any tomatoes or peppers this year. It's been an abnormally (even for us) cold and wet summer here.
I do hope the frost stays away 2ofus until you've got all your crops in. I'll keep everything crossed for you.:fingerscrossed:

Sorry to hear that your food plants are in danger. Maybe those temps will be just a quick snap and not last long enough to harm them.

I think our weather has been a month or six weeks early all year. I figured we would have a very early fall.

I think the only thing that was nipped was the cantaloupe I decided to try this year. This is not the best climate for them but it was a short season one so I only planted one hill. I've probably mentioned that I live at 5800 altitude and I'll admit that we have had snow in June one year but the this year it has just been cooler than normal, with few days even in the 80s (26.6C). It's suppose to get down to 30F ( 1.1C) tonight. Then it is suppose to warm back up in to the 40's at night. I sure hope that sprinkler works tonight!:fingerscrossed:

The sprinkler did it's job! Even at 30 degrees every thing looks okay this morning. Tonight the temps are suppose to be in the low 40's so we should be okay for a while. Thank Goodness!
