I finished the sunny part of the shade bed 2 days ago and gave my young gardening neighbor a wheelbarrow of plants. Yesterday I started on one side of my trellis bed. It's only 11 x 7 and I started at back working forward. Got about half done and gave another wheelbarrow of plants away! The last 2 days have been hard on this old body as many of the plants were huge and picking up and dividing overgrown tall sedum and cone flowers is had on the back. I'm sure all of you have had to place the shovel at the center of the plant, then jump up on the shovel in order to cut through heavy roots! That would make a funny video! Today I'm sort of getting a rest as I have an appointment in the "big town" 60 miles away so I'll combine some shopping also. Hope every one has a great day!

2ofus--that is quite the undertaking. Congrats on all the hard work. YES-that would make a funny video. Been there and done that. I hate it when the root ball fights back and throws you off of the shovel. I have several bed that I would like to remove. But I just have not gotten up the hutzpah to do it, or even think of starting.
Hope you have fun in the big city!

Whew! I'm almost done. Just one more huge plant to dig, divide, and plant. Also 2 small dianthus to move. Next spring I will get another Rosanne perennial geranium and I'll be done...except for weeding, watering, dividing, etc.

After getting the beds the way I wanted (though they are still crowded) I noticed that the brick edging around the beds had settled and most were covered with dirt so, being a nice day, I decided to pull them out and raise them up. Then I added compost and aged manure so everything is ready for winter and time to rest. Hmm. I've ignored the house all summer so now it's screaming at me to start on it. Guess there's never a season to actually rest!

Yup I have been doing some inside and outside work at different intervals. That way I don't get so overwhelmed with either the garden or the house. Just painted my kitchen and hallway. I had forgotten how much wall space I had to paint with the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen. But I got it all done in a weeks time and I love it. Yes! There is never a day without something to do or redo.
