I bought a few peaches from the grocery store and thought about how nice it would be to have a peach tree. I need advice on how to plant the peach pits to begin the process of growing my peach tree.

I didn't know anything about peach trees at the time of your posting. Peach trees will not grow here unless they are in greenhouses. I am curious to hear how it went with the planting of your peach stones. did you have success?

I totally missed this question when you posted it. We had a peach tree in our backyard for years and then baby trees for many years after it died. It seemed like all the peaches that fell to the ground germinated. So they are super easy to grow, full sun, they need cold treatment to trigger germination but if you put them in the ground or a pot and let them sit out for a full winter, that should do the trick. Works every time for Mother Nature.

You might be disappointed in the quality of the fruit you get though, it depends on whether they came from grafted trees or not. Grafted trees mean they just might revert back to one of the parent types and be nothing like what you bought from the store.

Most all commercial peach trees are grafted. They will grow but the fruit is about the size of a quarter and inedible.
