Hi my name is beverley and have recently moved to a very rural part of Kent. We are looking at giving the garden a big make over at some point so always looking for advice. We are interested in keeping the garden as wildlife friendly as possible and that's one of my reasons for joining. I am hand raising 5 oak eggar catapillars but could use some advice. I shall post more details when I find the correct forum.
Hi Beverley, welcome to GardenStew from north central Texas. Sounds like you have a big and exciting adventure ahead of you with a garden makeover. We love to see photos of before, during and after makeover projects!!! You can post your caterpillar questions in the http://www.gardenstew.com/forums/butterfly-moth.38/
Hi there Beverley and a hearty welcome to GardenStew I second Toni's post and I'd also like to suggest our Wildlife in the Garden forum for your wildlife questions: http://www.gardenstew.com/forums/wildlife-in-the-garden.11/ Looking forward to getting to know you!
Hello Bev and welcome to The Stew. I guess we are not too distant neighbours but I have just a small patio garden and it sounds as if your project will be somewhat larger. As others have said, keep us up to date with pictures. Nothing is simpler than posting pics on here. And I say that because some forums are not straightforward.
Hi there Beverley and this time I'll welcome you to our forums from up north in Scotland. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your planned wildlife garden. Kent should be an ideal part of the country to make it a success as your weather is so much better than ours. Will you be incorporating a pond into your plans? I do hope so as it will attract lots of insects, amphibians and birds. I look forward to your posts and I'm sure our members will give you lots of advice and help.
Thank you all for your welcome. I'm still figuring out how things work on here. We are planning on a big renovation or rebuild of our house so for now the garden is being maintained until we know what's going where. We have a small pond but hope to make a much larger one. So far we have been lucky enough to have grass snakes, common lizards, slow worms, glow worms, damsels, hawkers and various butterfly's, moths, bees and plenty of other insects. I will so my best to make sure they stay. I will see if I can add photos.
BevD-sending you a big warm welcome from a Stewbie in Wisconsin, USA. Wow, that does look like a lovely place to live. As you can hear---we love pic's seeing of what your corner of the world looks like. Especially your furry kids.
