Largest Lady Banks Rose in the world

    In cleaning out some over crammed full desk drawers (hubbies desk, not mine) he found this postcard he bought on a trip to California for a SASS shooting match many years ago.
    The original root came to the U.S. from Scotland in 1885, it now covers an arbor that is over 8,000 square feet in size and is covered with flowers every spring.

    I think I need to find a spot for mine further away from the house.

    Yes, that's the one I cite every time someone wants a "Lady Bank's". If you have a huge and sturdy trellis, go for it!

    It looks like if it was planted by a house you REALLY would have a Rose Cottage! It would cover our house for sure.

    That is a remarkable rose...just plain remarkable. I am well impressed with its size and history.
    Toni--can you see the value of saving old stuff tucked-away inn a drawer now? ;) cackle.

    Oh, shush Sjoerd, I am not even going to tell Randy what you said. He is always telling me not to get rid of stuff because if you do then the very next day you will find a use for it and have to go by another one.:eek:
