Is outside getting direct sun from 1:00 to around 4:00 is that a good amount of Sun or does it need more??
I've never placed mine in direct sun. Wandering Jews are basically a shade plant so they prefer bright indirect sun.
I have several of them outside in different sun/shade situations and they all seem to do just fine for me. I had them outside in Florida many years ago, never knew they were considered houseplants until I joined GardenStew in '06. And they are all deciduous, dying back to the ground when we have cold weather but they come back in the Spring when the weather warms up. I have them in the ground and in pots and they do tend to spread in the ground.
Hi & welcome! Your location would be a big factor in how much sun any particular plant might like. Assuming you're referring to Tradescantia zebrina, it will adjust to any amount of light. The bright red leaves are its' full sun color, fading to gray in very deep shade. This pot was hanging on my front porch, facing east all summer, until coming inside yesterday. That causes a darker, more red color.
