Plus the French population in Texas is less than 2 percent.....think this through....do you want French food being prepared by people who would rather coat it in flour and deep fry it or smother it in salsa than make something called Quiche. It just sounds like a 'fancy pants' kind of scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon or sausage. ;)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 0°c and overcast. We had freezing rain overnight again, and so the school buses are cancelled again. That is the 4th time in 2 weeks! I like having my daughter home so I am not going to complain. I stepped out the door last night and slid off the icy porch, down 5 steps on my butt and elbow. I am very sore today, but no bruising. I thought I would have gotten a bruise the size of Texas on my butt after that!! I'm waiting until the ice melts before walking the dog this morning, shouldn't take long as the temperatures are on the rise today. Have a great day all, and be careful out there!

We have had three consecutive days of overcast skies, drizzle, and morning fog. In the past two days we've had two inches of rain, and all the ponds are overflowing. We had to move the hens into the new coop this morning (it's a bit higher and doesn't get soggy like the old coop) and our umbrellas are drying out in the laundry room. We want sunshine, we want warm, and most of all, we don't want fog!
Netty, your little butt isn't big enough to accommodate a bruise the size of Texas! Sorry you slipped, but glad you weren't seriously hurt.

Haha MG! Maybe so, but the bruise is HUGE and 50 shades of black and blue. I have to ease myself into my seat and rolling over in bed hurts too. One of the best ones I've had!
Good Friday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast. PA day today for the kids, which means another day home. 4 snow days in the past 2 weeks, and a PA day means there has only been 5 days of school out of 10! Off on a wild goose chase today, to find someone who can sharpen figure skates properly. My regular guy moved out east, and the other skating shop I used to go to moved an hour south of me. I'll be heading 30 minutes north instead, so I hope I am not disappointed. Might have an hour on the ice when I'm back, and then I have some bananas that are begging to be banana bread. Have a great day all :)

Finally have sunshine! The temperature is in the mid-50's, so I could hang clothes on the line and have hope of them drying.
I bought several bags of cranberries after the holidays--love half price sales--and I'm making cranberry relish to have tonight with a pork loin roast. The rest will go into the freezer in small amounts. It is great dabbed on cream cheese on a cracker, and perks up a chicken sandwich, too.

Good morning all. I think I have a bag of cranberries at the bottom of the freezer from ooooooooooh, 6 years ago or so. Think they need to become bird treats.
Got a lot of sun out today and the temp is supposed to be in the 70s later this afternoon. I have a trench to dig in the front sun bed since the soil is till soggy from the rainy days. I am determined to get that part of the bed redone!

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 2°C and overcast. There are so many birds out this morning, and I have really missed their song. The snow has almost all melted now, but there is still a nice layer of snow on top of the veggie garden and the back flower bed. I am starting to get garden fever, but I know winter will be back soon.

We have sunshine again today! The temperature's hovering around 53 degrees, but perhaps later it will warm up and the wind will die down.
I'm setting up the indoor seed starting shelving, heat mats, and lights. My seed order arrived last week, and I'm itching to play in the dirt, even if it's just potting soil.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast. Rain is in the forecast until later when the temperature drops and then freezing rain. If freezing rain happens again into the morning rush-hour , it will be the third Tuesday in a row that the school buses are cancelled. Laundry has been done this morning, and now time to do some housework and figure out what is for dinner. Skating tonight starts early, and I don't want to feel rushed. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Kind of cool outside, clear sky with very little wind. Winter appears to literally be over for north Texas. We had 3 days in early January and the longterm forecast shows very few temps under 50 and most of the high temps in the 60-75 deg range for the next two months then after the Vernal Equinox the temps heat up from there.
I have photos of our snow event earlier this month so I think those will become my desktop background and a slide show for the screen saver.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -2°C and overcast. I can't think of the last time that is wasn't overcast and I actually SAW sunshine! Thank goodness for vitamin D supplements!
Yesterday, my boys informed me that it was National Pie Day, and so I got to work and made 2 pies! I'm not sure what national day it is today, and I hope they don't know either!
I'm going to declare it 'Mom is working on her garden journal' day :) Have a great day all!

I had a message this morning from Cjay. She couldn't find the thread about sending her good wishes. She is going to see it because I sent her the link. If you have good wishes for her, post them at http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/address.38203/ so she can see them.
I'm starting seeds today (scored a BIG bag of good potting soil yesterday, on sale) and then back to the flower beds to do more tidying up. The house needs tidying, too, but my priorities are outside, then inside!

I am finally able to stand up straight and walk normally after beginning to start on the trench in the front bed last week. I have some easier on my back things to do out in the back garden, time to dig some compost into the wheelbarrow planters and the raised bed. That should do me in for the next week.
Looks like Mother Nature is going to teach the national weather forecasters a lesson about trying to give information about my area. Now we are in for a cold front tonight or tomorrow that will bring temps down to the 30's at night and only the 50's during the day. I love Mother Nature. Still no rain before the end of the month so the drought is creeping ever closer again.

It was 39 degrees today. And I was allowed to walk to the truck and then from the truck to the door of the hospital.

It was great walking outside today.

It's snowing big time here. It was snowing when we got up this morning and it's still snowing. It's supposed to stop around midnight. Accumulation is predicted to 6 or 7 inches. I'm glad we don't have to shove. It was all cleared earlier today but will pile up overnight. It is in the 30's and will be 35 tomorrow and then upper 20's on the weekend. dooley
