We rearranged our living room. The previous owners painted this wall dark brown and that is where the tv was. It was nice when the tv was there but we moved the tv to another wall. Does anyone have a suggestion about a way to decorate this wall or should we just give up paint it the same as the rest of the walls. There is also really nice recessed lighting that shines down on that wall as well. So... it would be nice if we could keep it as an accent wall. The room is long. 20 long, 13 wide. This wall is opposite the front of the house with a huge bank of windows.
    thanks!

I like the accent wall. Some kind of modern, simple artwork would look nice there, especially if there's some lighting that can shine down on it. Maybe something metal and shiny? Even something mid-century modern might be neat if you are into that style.

Where's the artwork? That room is crying out for artwork. Either one really big piece or multiple little pieces hung in a grouping. With the lighting already there you could even make it a gallery wall with four big complimentary pieces of art. (Just one persons opinion)

I think the color of the wall is perfect and fits your furniture and accessories perfectly. You are almost there :stew2:

    Hey rodnamy,

I think a nice big stretched canvas would look great above the chair, maybe a more landscape photo with some nice slightly muted colors. Everything else looks great! :)

I guess I might as well throw my 2 cents in. I would put the beige couch on that wall instead of the smaller blue one. The smaller couch looks really out of scale with that big blank wall behind it.
Or you could put the smaller couch at an angle in the corner where I see a cold air return showing. That way you would be hiding the air return and not block off the air flow. Plus the couch's would be facing each other better.
Try putting the bigger couch on that wall and see what you think. I would definitely lighten the color of that dark wall. You could do it in a sage green or a caramel color. Two shades darker that the beige couch would work also.
Just something to think about. :stew1:

I like the way it looks now. If you like paintings it is the only think you can place there.

    Hi Rodnamy

Have you thought about maybe a tapestry. I've got one hanging on a featured wall above my fireplace at home and it looks great.

We picked a wide but not so tall beach scene called summer moments and it really makes the wall look great (and reminds us of summer when we're in the middle of winter).

Other than that I agree with SydneyManintyre, a large canvas with wrapped edges would also look good. Again we have a Gustav Klimt canvas on a wall in another room and that also works well at filling a large area.

I wouldn't do anything behind glass as the down lights you mentioned would cause a glare when you had them turned on. Neither a canvas or a tapestry should be affected by down lighting.

When you've decided what you're doing would you post a picture so we can see what you went with please?

Have you thought about wall panels?

This company does nice work and their wall panels are not too expensive. This pic is a bedroom but they can be used everywhere. www.dayorisgroup.com

I agree the accent wall would be nice with some artwork. Another thing I don't see is green growing plants...
Being a houseplant enthusiast, I think every room needs a plant or 2 ...or 3... ;)

Agree with a few from above. Move the larger sofa in front of that wall and add wall art. You could add a painting but if you want something more you could add a beautiful decorative mirror and some sconces on each side of the mirror to add personality as well. Having an accent wall color is great, but I think you just need to add something to the wall to spruce up the living room to incorporate the wall color.
