I did not encounter that problem. I have stop using the grounds for mulching. When I did the layer of ground just crack up during the afternoon sun and water can get in through the cracks. Anyway now I only work the ground into the earth before planting or just add it into the compost heap.
Thanks KK. I know the grounds are improving my soil. And it is true, the garden begins to smell like coffee!
