This is the vine. My best guess is Asiatic Jasmine.

It looks a bit like vinca. Does it have flowers. Vinca is also called periwinkle

Welcome to our forums Brae.I think Odif is right and it's a Vinca/Periwinkle (the flowers have five petals) and it can be very invasive.

And if you have an area you do not want weeds, plant it...

Everything has it's purpose. It is easily ripped out to control. I happen to love it...and I don't have to weed so much.

The first one sorta looks like a weed to me. The second one as everyone above has stated is vinca minor. I'm onboard with waretrop. I love this ground cover, and as matter of fact just bought 240 bare root plants this week online.

I agree, it is great in the right spot, but oh how it can take over. I am waiting for a weed whacker to arrive in the mail....I plan to go after the vinca, then smother the stubs with cardboard and the put mulch on the whole lot.....Perhaps when I am pulling weeds next summer I will regret this plan.

@Cayuga Morning That should work.....Thick mulch is much easier to pluck weeds out of also....

@waretrop : after I walked away from my computer, I realized I had not commented on your photos. They are gorgeous! Vinca is perfect for growing around hostas & the foliage contrast looks great. I am going to suggest that combination to a friend who was bemoaning the high cost of mulching around all her hostas. Maybe she'd even want some of my vinca.

I have been trying many different kinds of ground covers over the years. There are a few I really like....Maybe I will try to start a post bout that soon....

Rich blossoms and simplicity of care make vinca (Catharanthus roseus) a phenomenal determination on the off chance that you have little time to tend your garden. Helpful in fringes, flowerbeds, shake greenery enclosures and compartments, the vinca bloom gives moment shading wherever it develops.
