my neighbor has this plant...i think it is a weed. it grows rampantly in her yard and invades my garden and lawn. it grows in long smooth spiky shoots anywhere up to 2ft high.
right now another neighbor has cut a lot of it down.
have included picture. it is the smaller plant in front. which looks like fat grass. you can see there are a few other sprouts nearby.

can anyone tell me what this plant is and how i can get rid of it!

Where do you live. that might help others identify this. I don't think we have anything like it here, but I recall seeing this somewhere... the bamboo-y like shoots?

Hi lori_15,..this looks like one of the plants they call 'Running Bamboo',..though it has the appearance of Bamboo it never hardens to become Cane Like or Bamboo,..it produces runners underground and spreads.

You are talking about the little short, stubby grass-like plant, not the taller one that was broken off.
