I was looking for a picture to change my avatar from my Christmas wish one. I came across a picture that I have posted temporarilly as my avatar but thought i would use Sjoerds lead and post it as a puzzle.
The question is, What is the object or objects in this picture?

Hmmm - it is a light of some sort. Cause of the red and green I'd say some sort of stop/go signal except the red light isn't whole.

Light house! :) :) :) Although I don't know if light houses have red and green lights.

I'm with Islandlife, it looks like a Fresnel lens in a lighthouse.

That looks like a First-Order Fresnel lens to me. Those things are gorgeous.

Agree with lighthouse lens. Actually that photo looks like it is a screenshot from one of the levels in Myst.

Right on folks :like: They are the reserve lenses in the lens store below the light of the Dungeness lighthouse here in Kent.

The old lighthouse is no longer in service and open to visitors. In this picture you can see both the old and new automated lighthouse.

And in this one I am looking through the fresnels of the light at the top. The fresnels are beautiful pieces of glass work.

Never heard the word "Fresnel" but if that is what this is that is way cool to know. I love pictures of light houses.

There is a Joke that circulates here re: US Naval Destroyer and/or insert your Country of choice! ;) ;) ;)

This is the actual transcript of a radio conversation between a US NAVAL Destroyer / British Navy ship and the Canadian Coast Guard / Irish Coastguard, off the coast of Newfoundland / Kerry:

Canadian / Irish. Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south, to avoid collision

USA / British. Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north, to avoid collision

Canadian / Irish. Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south ' to avoid collision.

USA / British. This is the Captain of a US Naval Destroyer / British Navy Ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadian / Irish. Negative. I say again, you will have to divert YOUR course

USA / British. THIS IS THE LARGEST SHIP IN THE AMERICAN / BRITISH FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY 3 DESTROYERS, 3 CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT SHIPS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES TO THE NORTH, OR COUNTERMEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS FLOTILLA.

Canadian / Irish. THIS IS A LIGHTHOUSE ....... YOUR CALL!
