Banded coopers hawk

    I know the guy that banded all the coopers in this area. I sent him my shot and he sent a picture back of it in 2009. My head shot.. then the band, the young ones are from Andy, It is second from the right.

    I'm so pleased to see that the hawk has survived and is obviously doing well on its own. Do you know if any of its siblings have been seen or what has happened to them?

    He didn't mention any other sightings but I do get the female around the feeders also.

    I'm curious as to how he finds/gets these birds. Are they mostly rescues, or does he like living on the edge while momma bird is out hunting down chow?

    Many people told him where the nests were. He had a couple of helpers and went up to the nests in one of those bucket lifts. He banded them for years and was well known by the naturalists here. He has intensive records of them.

    Wow, Kildale that is so neat to see a banded Coppers. I always check the ones that come to our feeders looking for a meal. But so far, no banded ones.
