I love this plant, would like to know what it is, and how to propagate it. It has pointy palm like leaves, and a thick stalk comes out the center with these bell shaped flower clusters. Sojerd is right--it is a type of yucca, also known as "candle of the desert" and locally as the "ouch" plant. If it flowers, it will propagate itself by seed. They grow wild in Texas and are lovely to look at, not so lovely to get close to!
Wow, thanks for the info, the yucca family, that make sense,I was thinking palm. So the flowers are starting to dye off now, could I collect them a harvest the seeds to plant,or can I get something growing faster with a cutting from the plant? Don't yucca's root from leaf cuttings? something like an aloe would.
When the flowers fall and there is a seed pod left behind, let it ripen. Collect the seeds and plant them. The new yucca-lets will come up when the time is right. If you take a cane (medium size leaf) and put it in moist potting soil, it should strike roots within two months if temperatures are right. Be patient, it could take longer. Now is the time to invest in a good pair of goatskin gloves so you can handle your yucca!
