This bush has almost sage like foliage and orange flowers. It is flowering now, September, in Calgary, Alberta.
Toni, I agree. The flowers do look a little quince-like, but I can't really make out the foliage. Most flowering Quince bloom in the spring, after forsythia.
CM, I thought they bloomed in late winter too but with the strange weather all over the place lately maybe it has rescheduled itself ??
Toni, as I typed my previous post, I was having the same thought. In much of the NE, we have had pretty severe drought. I was wondering what kind of weather Albeta has been having. I have some perennials that barely bloomed this summer. You could see them hunkering down to (hopefully) wait out the drought. With the cooler weather now & a bit of rain, some are blooming uncharacteristically late.
