today is the annual village plant sale in aid of our local hospice which I help at. The plants are all grown by a couple of local ladies plus villagers and local business donate bits and bobs. Over the years people have donated huge cactus collections, which were quickly snapped up by the local children, massive water lilies which were split at the sale so lots of people could take a chunk for their ponds and piles of plastic and terracotta pots which people bought plants to fill there and then. There will be the same old faces, lots of village gossip and catch ups, tea and cake, just keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain, it is cloudy at the moment but dry.

Really hoping the weather co-operates and stays dry for you all. Sadly our village has lost all its traditional events now that commuters have been buying up the houses. I so enjoyed our village fayres with all its stalls. The plant one was, obviously, a firm favourite. I have a feeling that the hospice is really going to benefit from the sale today. If I lived nearer I'd be there that's for sure.

First rough count, we raised over £600, I should get the final figure tomorrow. So many lovely plants, so many lovely people spending their money for a good cause.

That's a good amount to raise in just one day EJ. I'm sure it will go a long way to help at the hospice.
