Can anyone help with my problem which is what is the best soil I can use in planting a cactus.
The little cactus that almost died is coming along with some new growth.

You can buy a special mix from garden centres that is made up especially for cacti Ed. Good luck with your cactus and I hope it grows well for you.

Ed there is a cactus "soil" blend in the plants/garden section at most stores. You can also mix extra sand into to give it more drainage and weight for the pot... which is what I do..

You can also mix your own cactus soil by mixing sand, perlite (or plain cat litter) and some potting mix. The trick is that they want soil with lots of air in it so it can drain properly.
