Is any one else starting any craft projects in the new year. I am again crocheting - something I used to enjoy but had gotten away from. My focus now is on hats, scarves and mittens to use for giveaways next Christmas when toys are being collected for the needy. I have taught two gals at work to crochet and they are busy making afghans so I have two or three of them in progress as well. Will post pictures when something is done.
What a great idea, Polly, getting an early start for next Christmas, that sort of home-made gift will be so appreciated by those who receive them. I used to really enjoy crocheting and knitting in the winter months, I seem to have run out of steam . . . temporarily, I hope. My goal for '07 is to return to some of the partially completed projects that I already have lying around here.
My plan for the New Year is to finally finish painting my house. And outdoors this spring to finish my secret garden. I'm bad at finishing things too Zuzu!
I spent many hours last year knitting scarves and ponchos for the women and girls at the Women's Place shelter. Delivered about a dozen of each back in November when the weather started getting cooler. This year I am making a poncho for myself and then have the wool yarn to make 6 of the helmet liners for soldiers... http://www.geocities.com/helmetliner/ I also plan on knitting socks for gifts this year.
Besides the fairy house(s) and fairy garden, I am making more totems. But my big craft project is mosaics, I am going to give them a try. Anyone out there with advice on the easiest thing to start out with.
Oh my gosh! Until I read your post, Sharon, I had forgotten all about my beginners mosaic project that I want to do this year. I have a department store torso mannequin that I want to cover . . . aw cheez, I see another semi-complete project in my future.
I plan to finish the fairy houses my children and I have been working on. I wouldn't mind getting into mosiac also, it sounds very interesting.
Jubabe did some great table tops bailey.Check her blg out and then ask her how she did it I can't get the hang of it.
Glendann she told me about her tabletops and how her sweet hubby made the stands for them. They are so cute, they did a great job together.
Yes,they do .Her Hubby is the greatest man in this country. He really is so good to her and my brother and adaddy out of this world.I love him dearly and to me she is so special.
Yes, yes, yes. We are doing gourd art and planning to grow some more gourds this year since we are Finally using them. I finally decided how my totems are going to be so that is in the works. My mosaic chair only lacks me cleaning the mosaic. Everyone should do a mosaic. They are great-calming even. I think they do them at mental hospitals now. I'm glad to help anyone who needs it. Of course we are always doing stained glass. We just made some moths for little giveaways for company but hubby said they are too pretty to give away! They may have to settle for a ladybug. I hope to make a statue this year if I can just figure out what I want. I'm thinking CAT. Happy crafting everyone. Nothing is more satisfying than a hands on project. My little greasy fingers just itch to get started. 8)
I want to do a stained glass skull and cross bones on a black background for Ron's work room. I already got him a cannon which we keep on the deck pointed at our neighbor! Actually I'm going to have to pay someone to do the stained glass as I know I'll never get around to it! I'm not very crafty. muddy
I want to do something with gourds. Somewhere, maybe here, someone mentioned using them for planters. The only problem is I will have to find them somewhere, our growing season isn't long enough to grow them- I've tried! Deanna :-D
