    I love this flower. It is known by many names.
    False Sunflower, Perennial Sunflower or Heliopsis.
    It blooms for about 2 months here in zone4.

    No, I have some Heliopsis. This is different, but the flowers do look similar.

    Looks like one of the newer hybrid daisies I had a few years ago. Did you plant any seeds from packets in that spot? There is another that is common here and I see the seeds in spring but I cannot remember the name.

    I think I may have found it! It could be Silphium perfoliatum I'm just looking for some more info. Does anyone have Silphium perfoliatum in their garden?
