Since the tree was removed, this corner has undergone a lot of change. This spring, I moved all the Heuchera to a shadier spot, moved the Daylily and Hostas. What you can't see in the bottom pic are the Rose I put in (wedding gift) the 2 Weigelas and Lady's Mantle along with a Heuchera that likes more sun. Maybe I ought to take a better photo?
The Lilacs rallied this spring! Last year, something chewed on them and I barely saw a bloom. This year, gorgeous! They are pink and very fragrant. They are "James McFarlane". The pot (in both pics) contains the Hibiscus variegata which overwintered quite nicely indoors.
The trellis has a Lemon Lace Vine, which is a cool chartreuse and has white flowers on it now.
The plan is to get some height for a screen. There are also 3 Mohican Viburnums growing and getting tall along the fence.
It's fun to see it evolve.

You have done a terrific job transforming this space. Wow, to take a garden from shade to sun...that's a lot of work and I love the color and plants.

You've made a perfect 'sun trap' garden Kay and the plants certainly seem to appreciate their home. I love the Lemon Lace vVine you've chosen to put on the trellis. :-D

Very attractive corner and I am interested in the lemon lace too, does it have another name?

Kay--It does look very pretty there! I take it the pinks are the pink lilac? Are they a particularly short variety? I am amazed they are blooming so well at 3-4' tall! I agree with others, I love the look of that chartruese vine in the corner. Eye catching!

Nice and light, we had a tree down and the whole garden is brighter.

Here is another wider shot of the corner showing the Lady's Mantle, Heuchera, Columbine and the Amber Flower Carpet Rose(not blooming yet!). As well as Weigela, and Black Eyed Susan. Looking for some nice color this season!
The Viburnums flank the corner, and couldn't resist showing a close up of Heuchera "Circus" a pretty chartreuse with red veins. Love my Heuchs!

Chocolate, The Lemon Lace Vine is a sport of the Silver Lace Vine Fallopia aubertii.
It was discovered at Bluebird Nursery in my state of Nebraska by one of the owners.
I purchased it from a greenhouse that I used to work at that sells a lot of Bluebird Nursery stock. On the back of the tag it says "Propagation is strictly prohibited" !!!
I bought it 2 years ago, and at this point I don't know if it is available in very many places.

Kay... I know what you mean about the camera. I'll be looking at a part of the garden or a bed and think... I've got to show somebody how neat this looks. Grab the camera... take several photos. Look at them on the 'puter and realize it just didn't translate from real life.
But, thanks to technology... we sure can try and try and try! :stew1:

Thank Sjoerd! I think all of our gardens are pretty spiffy ;)
I can't wait for the Rose to get blooming, it is a orangy-red, and those Black eyed Susan will be a constant yellow this season. I also love the airy yellow blooms of Lady's Mantle.
