At the beginning I thought it was a melon plant since it grew where I planted my melon seeds, but then it took off, it grows very rapidly, it has one single large heart shaped leaf per stem and it is about 3 1/2 feet tall and growing.

I wonder how tall it will be before it blooms? Exciting!

    It Makes sense

It Makes sense, I have 4 bird feeders and all of them have sun flower seeds. But the sun flower plants I have had in the past do not come close to be this big at all - their leaves are about 1/4 these plant ... this new plant's leafs are a good 10 inches long stem to tip, and about 8 inches wide.

Thank you for your answer, the picture of your link does look like sun flower plant and it does make sense.

I feed cardinals, blue jays, wood peckers, robins, finches, and of course the thieving squirrels.

It depends on which sunflower seeds are in the seed mixture. kSome that have come up for me were only about 2 feet tall but it looks like the ones I have out front now will be close to 6 feet tall when they bloom.

It looks like my mammoth giant sunflower from last year.
