We were sitting on the bench waiting for butterflies to come and we noticed a different bird at the jelly feeder. First he flew to the top of the trees and that is when I got the picture. Remember I live in Wisconsin...it is one we haven't seen before and it surprised us that he liked the jelly...

Doesn't have the V shaped tail for a martin. But I don't know what it is.

Any chance that you could get another shot of it (if it returns)? Hopefully, if it does, you'll be able to get one of it perching somewhere near at hand. Maybe then one of us will be able to ID it for you.

    Thank you everyone for helping...

Sjoerd you are right. I did get another picture but it was already getting dark and the picture didn't turn out. We have not noticed them here before, I wonder where he got his first taste of jam that he keeps coming back? KN_HelloPooh_Thx.gif

That is an attractive bird to my eyes.
Glad that the ID was correct. Is that bird normally found at feeding stations over there?

I haven't noticed him in our pergola where we hang all of our feeders, just getting a taste of the jam at the Oriole feeder. I did find this on the internet:

    Diet
Mostly insects, some fruit. Insects make up majority of summer diet; included are many beetles, wasps, bees, winged ants, grasshoppers, flies, leafhoppers, and others. Sometimes claimed to be a serious predator on honeybees, but there is little evidence for this. Also eats many berries and wild fruits. Winter diet not well known, but feeds heavily on berries in tropical forest.

Sherry8 that is a great action pic of that royal bird. Kingbird I mean. We have quite a few out here by us. We do not cut our 2 acre pasture and the birds love it. But with all this hot dry weather we have had some of our bird types that normally do not visit a seed feeder.
Lately we have had Orioles coming to our sunflower hearts feeders. I think that this dry hot weather is hard on the bug population. We have little to NO mosquitos. That is a rare thing because of the river behind our property. I am so enjoying the fact that you do not have to put on bug repellent. The one bug that seems to love this weather is the Deerfly. I hate those nasty biters.
We had a really sad thing happen when we had those really hot days about 2 wks ago. In our pole barn we have several Barn Swallow pairs nesting. Well it got so hot up in the top part of the roof where one pair was nesting, that all of their little brood jumped to their death.:(:smt022:smt022There was 6 of them in all. So sad. We are going to see if before next nesting season we are able to block off those areas that are up in the peak of the roof.

@Tooty2shoes - Aww that would be heart breaking to see. I really love swallows. Such pretty birds. Hopefully you can fix it so it won't happen again.
