I planted pumpkins, zucchini, spaghetti squash, gourds, & cucs 2 wks ago. We had a lot of rain and not a lot of sun - two pathetic looking sprouts came up. Thinking that it was simply a result of the lack of good weather, I thought I would try again with some fresh seeds. When I dug up the old seeds and checked them out, I was horrified to find these nasty creatures in them! What the heck are they and what do I do about it? I'm afraid to put more seeds in the ground at this point!

My guess is that the seeds rotted and the maggots are feeding on the decomposed seed. With better weather the new seeds should be O.K.

I agree with Jerry. plant new seeds, your old ones rotted and mother nature is doing her job. sorry. Out of 8 rows of corn we ended up with 2 due to the cold wet weather. :(
