Last year I saw this flower growing in a pot at my girlfriends house. The plant still had its tag, it's a Gazaiina (sp).I really liked the flowers so my friend saved me some seeds. I tried to start some inside under lights but had no luck. I also winter sowed.some of the seeds. I managed to sprout one plant. It is just starting to bloom.
Gazanias are a hardy, heat-loving plant that re-seeds, but is an annual. Here is a link to how to grow them: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/grow-gazanias-69675.html They are very popular here in Texas because they can withstand the heat of summer, and keep on blooming. We have a small patch in one of the front flowerbeds, but they don't re-seed themselves as much as I'd like. Perhaps I need to gather the seed and throw it down in late winter.
This flower is beautiful @Bosque and @Kazzawazza. They are actually stunning. I just read that they like zone 9 to 11..Is that absolutely TRUE????
We are visiting south West Texas right now and these are growing as weeds everywhere. Amazing. Beautiful weeds.
