I have a young female hummingbird who favors my black and blue salvia. She sits in the rhododendrum and runs off any other hummingbirds or butterflies that try to invade her turf.

Ohhh, I see another Picture of the Month coming up! You do take the most amazing photos. Thanks for sharing your hummingbirds with us.
Our sages are favorites of our hummingbirds, but they won't pose like yours do!

Yes those are some great photo's. I like the one where she is looking at the camera. She has quite the attitude for such a small girl. :stew1:

Thanks for all the wonderful comments Eileen, Jane, Netty and Tooty. I have several that race and chase each other through the yard. I keep the camera nearby when I am working in the yard. Its easier to get a shot when she perches. I get a lot of blurry shots when they are darting from flower to flower. :stew2:

More super-excellent photos. They could easily be published in the Hummingbird Hall of Fame Photographic Encyclopedia (is there one of those? :-D )

awesome pictures! i've only seen hummers a couple of times in my yard, and the one time the little birds that nest in the shed chased it away.

Thank you Annette, Sherry,Purpleinop and Green fairy, they are such fun to watch. Sadly they will be heading south soon. "Hummingbirds teach us to hover in the moment to appreciate its sweetness"

Congratulations on winning the "Foto of the Month".
Very nice foto and I am really envious of you being able to see those tiny birds there. It would be so nice if we had them here.
