Barb is famous for preserving large amounts of food (would that I had her energy). She inspired me to get 10 lbs. of beef bones at a meat market and make beef broth. I know, I know, 10 lbs. is nothing to Barb, but it's quite a bit for me!
After roasting the bones and scraping up all the fond, we had beef broth simmering on the stove all afternoon. Wonderful fragrance! I de-fatted it this morning, and now have containers of beef broth in the freezer. Home-made minestrone soup is on the horizon!

I would be a taster for you if I lived nearby. I don't think your broth would last long with me around though. :smt053 I do sooo love homemade soup. :headbang:

Mart, great minds run on the same track--I have saved the square plastic containers that purchased suet feed comes in, and have been filling them as I have suet. I use a 1/3 suet, 2/3 mix of seed, pack it in the container, cover with plastic wrap and then freeze (labeled of course so I don't inadvertently fix suet cakes for our dinner!).

LOL....very cute guys......I am still canning stuff.....today will be another 50 pounds of bacon. I have some to smoke but not right now. I know....I know. some don't agree with what I do but if you don't like, Don't do it....

I did french onion soup made from my bone broth that was canned previously. It turned out heavenly. I also canned some turkey soup. I added a handful of peppercorns before I canned it. Man is that good with a kick.

Netty and marlingardener, You are so cute...it's good that you don't bite off more than you can chew. don't want to burn yourself out..

Barb, that's a great pun or two!
I'd never be able to keep up with you, but I bake a lot of bread so we both enjoy being in the kitchen!

In the olden days my house went like this:

    Monday- bread and noodles
    Tuesday shop
Wednesday make some dinners early for the end of the week
    Thursday scrubby dubby house day
    Friday sheets
    Saturday prepare for evening guests
    Sunday day of rest....

I only have Friday sheet day now...I don't even have a normal scrubby dubby day anymore...LOL "ME BAD!!!!"

    marlingardener, I didn't realize I was so punny....Was not intended.....LOL
