I bought it at a garden center but I hit too many of them and could never even guess which one it came from. It was on a 7 hour drive one day. Funny thing the label on the field pot says polygonatum commutatum, when I google this, I don't believe that is what it is.....Sounds like someone used an old pot to pot this up and that doesn't sound like a professional thing.

Could it be in the Rose of Sharon family??

    Hibiscus?
The branch structure and all over look of the plant looks like a hibiscus, so Rose of Sharon would be close.

chocolate, So glad to see you here and reading this.

I am fine with planting this thing in the wrong place. I can always move it when we find out what it is. Hubby is very very good at digging holes and he really really loves doing it. LOL He says it's easy, just keep taking rock out and then you have the hole....

He loves volunteers.....chocolate and Cayuga Morning.....I'll serve the cool drinks...

Ha ha! I love the picture of moving a rock out so as to make room for a plant in.

I bet it is a hibiscus, Rose of Sharon. It does have that look.

Two others have suggested that it looks like a Rose of Sharon and I think it is too.

Barb, I am not as convinced that it is a hibiscus. I really am wondering if it is an oak leaf hydrangea. The potted plant is hard to see, but the leaf reminds me more of that than a hibiscus, still I am not positive, though.
