killing of unwanted trees

    :( I have a grown up tree along the side of my house and the roots of the tree is damaging the foundation of the house making large cracks in the wall.I want to kill the tree after which it can be cut.which chemical or acid can be injected to the stem and how ? Or any other way.

    It is dangerous to kill a tree and chop it down because of the danger of falling dead branches . Chop the tree down first and then kill the roots and stump . What sort of tree is it ? Whereabouts are you? Any pictures ? Hope this helps

    That was my thought too - we had to take down a big maple once because of this. We took off the large branches, then felled the trunk. It was only after that danger was out of the way we could look to killing the stump (we used a chemical off the shelf, you drill holes in the stump and just pour it in). After a while, we managed to get to digging out the major roots and had trenches all over that part of the yard.
