Large shrub, about 8-10 feet tall.Late June/early July flowers which are about 6" long and highly attractive to bees and butterflies . I'm almost certain that it is related to a hebe but I can't find an exact ID.

Hubby looked it up for me. It's call Sixteen Candles and Sweet Pepperbush. He thinks it's native to Conn.

I really like it...may find some for myself..

    Thank you Palustris

Barb,on this side of the pond it can be known as Summersweet.

OK Toni, when I'm back on my MacBook I'll load one for approval :p and yes,it is a real beauty. We walk past it everyday when we are out with the dogs.

Palustris, not a problem, actually I found it under both names in a Google search but Frank had entered it as alnifolia on our database so that's the one I linked too.

Very pretty blooms! The landscape designer I work with uses this a lot. I go to our wholesaler to buy them, deliver them to jobs, and have never seen one in bloom!
I'm not sure just how much they like it here in Nebraska, they never seem to do well over winter.
