I've been seeing a craft show advertised in the local paper since October asking for vendors. "Oh boy! This one ought to be good," I thought. And it's only about 15 minutes from the house.
So, I head over there. Only about 5 cars in the parking lot. No banners, streamers, booths. Nothing. Maybe I'm too early?
So I go into town and get some bird & dog food. And an early lunch for me.
Then back to the place. Yep, there's the sign with the date and times. And still only about 5 cars! I decided not to waste my time and even go inside.
    Bummer.
But, I did spot a resale store with a sign out front that said "junktiques". Sounds like my kinda place.
Cute shop. Nicely displayed. And the guy was super nice and chatty. It had some of the usual resale stuff, jewelry, dishes, wall plaques, etc, but alot of neat stuff. Lots of coca cola stuff, old bottles, wine racks, antiques, etc. One room just had old tools. Another with just "junk"...Old toys, knick knacks, etc. The guy even makes stands, tables out of reclaimed wood, old doors & windows.
So I take my time and look around at everything and was getting disappointed that I didn't see something I REALLY wanted. Until I looked in the corner by the front door.
"AHA! I knew I'd find you one day!" And it was half price!
I happily pay and go to put it in the truck when I spot another item that begged to come home with me.
    Total for both items, $21.

This "bird" is was the one I spotted on the way out... kinda ugly, but cute. And only $5.

And after a little spray paint.

Remember when I was searching for jars to use with solar lights a few months ago? This is one that I found.

It looked & worked great with a solar light. But I didn't have a holder for it. I thought about just hanging it from a shepherd's hook? Nah. Maybe just set it on the ground? Nah. So it just got tucked away until I could find the right item to hold it.
And that's what I spotted in the corner...

I probably would have paid full price... but wasn't going to leave it behind for half price!
So yes, it was going to hold that jar/solar light for me. It fit perfectly!
I finally decided to put it in the flower bed by the front porch.

It will help light up the porch area nicely.

Well that bird sure looks good with it's new colouring but I wouldn't have expected anything less with you painting it. :-D
I'm seriously green about that lovely solar light holder. I've been searching over here for, literally, years for two just like that. Sadly nothing really comes close at a price I can afford. :( I'm so glad you posted pictures of it so that I can copy and print it and take it around with me to show people. Who knows maybe my luck will change now and I'll find some soon.

The bird cage holder looks fantastic Cheryl. Really a perfect match for your solar light jar :smt023 And quite a spiffy coat of paint on your bird also!

    Thanks everyone.
I debated on whether to paint that bird or not. But since I had paint on hand, I went for it. If it didn't look right, I could always just repaint it black. :D
I fell in love with that stand. It is in perfect condition, looked brand new to me. No paint needed. I did however spray it with a clear coat just to help protect it.
It was overcast all weekend, but nice and sunny today, so now my solar lights will get a good charge and I'll finally see how much light it can cast.
