Mine is to fill and hang my baskets for the summer. They really cheer up the front of the house and the back fence.
Finish covering the back garden with cardboard and mulch before our anniversary trip in late May. Then I don't have to worry about what will be waiting for me out there as far as thigh high weeds go. And with the mulch down I can start putting out a bit more of the junque I have collected the last few years. And since we don't have an exact time-line for when our side of the street will be ripped up including taking out the sidewalk, I need to get the Lamb's Ear and Liriope potted up for their safety. I would hate to come back from our trip to find they had all been tossed away.
My list is SO LONG I will not bore you all with it. The good news is that spring has finally sprung in New England! Daffs are up, snowdrops, preennials are peeking their heads up. Our pink Cornellian azalea is in bloom next to the white forsythia. A pretty sight. Hopes for May: 1) build a 3 bay compost bin from pallets 2) get the weeds out of the new community plot 3) plant out the seedlings I have growing under lights: lettuce, squash, cantalopes 4) finish yard clean up!!! It all sounds like a lot of work, but I am having fun....particularly with the new community plot. I keep meeting other gardeners there & that is fun.
I want to find the time to get to the nurseries and plant stands to find herbs and flowers for my containers. If I get really ambitious, I will bring some mulch home and top dress the ornamental beds. It has been rainy here, so the grass wants to be cut now too.
I still need to weed a few flower beds, buy the flowers for my hanging baskets and patio pots. I also need to make time to sit and enjoy my gardens instead of only working in them.
Still trying to get more plants that are ideal for my back deck, which doesn't get a whole lot of sunlight. I just got a great patio set for my deck and fired up the grill once so far this year!
