    It appears as if there were a shower of hailstones,..or a light fall of snow,..but no its the blossoms falling of the Crataegus monogyna ' Hawthorn ',..it adds a lovely sweet scent to the air,..its also called 'May Blossom'.

    It does look like you've had a hail storm. I love to see the blossom on the trees but I also like to walk through all the fallen flowers.

    Hi Odif,..sure looks like that,..at least more natural than the stuff commonly used :)

    ===============================================================

    Hi Palustris,..the Month of May has proven to be very agreeable,.. so far,..warm and dry but always a chance of rain lol,..seems too good to be true so fingers crossed for the remainder of May.

    ===============================================================

    Hi Hank,..thank you,..i think you would enjoy the visit,..do you have it on top of your list,..you would be most welcome,..The Midlands would be a good area ( where i live of course ) so i could act as guide,..boating would be an adventure providing you like water world :smt035,..not like the Film Deliverance of course lol.

    ================================================================
    Between Feb/Mar/Apr and May,..we have two bursts of white blossoms,..the Whitethorn and Hawthorn,..the latter is Prunis spinosa and produces a fruit,..the Sloe,..used to make Sloe Gin :setf_056:the interesting thing is the Hawthorn produces white blossoms when the stems are bare.

    The 'May' in the saying is the blossom rather than the month. So one is advised not to be lulled (in Britain) by a false warm period and take off a piece of warm clothing, a clout. Supposedly the weather improves once the May blossom has appeared.

    One word , a lot of different meanings. Crossword puzzlers delight. A blow, a piece of clothing and a kind of nail, influence. to mend with a patch and an archery target. there may be more.
