You have some very nice and healthy looking house plants. I really like the tray with so many different textures.
That's quite a collection of healthy looking houseplants you have. Your obviously doing a great job of looking after them all.
Wow they're very nice! Is that a christmas cactus? I've had one for almost ten years now and it grows beautifully but I only got 2 flowers from it in all this time I thought it was a sun issues since I keep it in the office, or a water issue but it seems that I've got the water right and from what I could gather it gets enough light. Maybe it just doesn't like the office environment.....
Lovely assortment. Curious about the Christmas cactus too. I have three, and all have yet to flower Healthy, put out new leaves regularly, but no blooms.
Hi! Great collection of plants. Christa, the most common reason holiday cactus don't bloom is that they're in rooms where lights are on when it's dark outside. For buds to form, there must be more hours of dark than light. The next thing to look at would be fertility. Might need a bit of fertilizer, especially just before the fall equinox, when buds can start forming. http://www.clemson.edu/extension/hgic/plants/indoor/flowering/hgic1554.html
That's interesting, we do switch all the lights of in the office.... Maybe it needs a sabbatical. I took it home when we fumigated the office, I think I'll leave it home throughout our winter and see what happens there. I'll do the fertilizer for sure.
Yes , try the light deal with the Christmas cactus. I've never had an issue with it not flowering, but this is the first year that I've had the flowers totally change color. They used to be all white , now they are this yellow to pink color, still beautiful though. No complaints here. Haha
Temp can have an affect on the bloom color. Lower temps (below about 50F) can cause pink/yellow/peach hues on flowers that would otherwise be white. http://mobile.floridata.com/Plants/Cactaceae/Schlumbergera%20x%20buckleyi/1234
