I and Marlingardner where wondering if any other towns, countries, or states had a Mythical creature. We here in Wisconsin, Rhinelander being the town has the legend of the Hodag. Now this creature is not one I would want to run into at all. But I'm told that it only eats White Bulldogs. Because there are so few White Bulldogs now a days, they figure that the Hodag is now extinct . It was originally discovered in 1893 by a land surveyor who loved to pull pranks. It was said that the first Hodag to be captured had to be killed with a stick of dynamite. Yikes! They now have a festival to celebrate the extinct Hodag. Here in Wisconsin we love festivals. So why not. Here is a picture of what the Hodag looked like.
When we lived in upstate NY, a nearby town had a Loch Ness festival. The town jokesters put a large inflatable Nessie in the local lake, and it took off from there. They also hosted a saurkraut festival. All in all, I preferred the sea monster.
